Services and Programs

Many of the service organizations in the North Okanagan region (listed below) provide family services and programs not only for very young children and their families but to the community as a whole.

Childcare & Early Education

Okanagan Boys & Girls Club

The Vernon Branch of the Okanagan Boys & Girls Club serves Vernon, Coldstream, and Lavington with daycare, after school care, and recreation programs.

The Armstrong Branch of the Okanagan Boys & Girls Club serves Armstrong and Falkland with daycare and recreation programs as well as operating the Armstrong Food Bank.

Okanagan Regional Library branches are in each of the communities in the North Okanagan. Many of the branches have early years programs.

Parks & Recreation

Greater Vernon Parks, Recreation, and Culture , facilities and parks in Vernon, Coldstream, BX, Swan Lake, and Silverstar administered by the RDNO

Fortune Parks Recreation, and Culture  facilities and parks in Enderby and electoral area F. Although under the umbrella of the RDNO, the facilities and parks management services are provided by the City of Enderby and electoral area F

Whitevalley Parks Recreation and Culture, a list of all facilities and parks in Lumby, Cherryville, and Mabel Lake. Although under the umbrella of the RDNO, the facilities and parks management services are provided by the City of Lumby under contract to the RDNO

 Health and Development

interior health_logoInterior Health serves the entire southern interior of the Province of BC and has special programs and help for the early years; pregnancy to age six. They also publish an e-newsletter for parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers up to age two with the latest tips on topics such as breastfeeding, nutrition, child proofing your home, immunizations and  more you can send them an email and request to be put on their e-newsletter mailing list.



The Nona Child Development Centre is located in Vernon and supports the entire region. Nona stands for “North Okanagan Neurological Association”. They offer the following programs ;

  • Infant Development Program
  • Supported Child Development Program
  • Speech-Language Therapy
  • Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy
  • Family Support Program
  • FASD Key Worker & Parent Support Program
  • Autism Services Program


The Family Resource Centre is located in Vernon but provides services and programs to the entire North Okanagan Region. They provide educational information, referrals, and counselling to help people of all ages in their journey to well being.



Community Kitchens North Okanagan  have kitchens organized in  in Vernon, Armstrong, Falkland, Lumby, Cherryville, Enderby, and Salmon Arm. Community Kitchens are open to anyone in the community with an interest in learning how to cook (and then cooking) healthy, affordable meals.


The  Food Action Society of the North Okanagan is an organization that supports and works toward a healthy and sustainable regional food system. If you would like to buy local produce, you can sign up for the Good Food Box or check out their website for listings of local farms and markets.
